Course Evaluations supports several levels of hierarchy that can be used for reporting, decentralized management, and results access. Each customer can choose to use or ignore a hierarchy level. The name of each level is configurable.

  • Institution – This is the installation level of Course Evaluations. It represents the instance.
    • School/Database – Used when there is decentralized management
      • College – reporting roll up only
        • Division – reporting roll up only
          • Department – reporting roll up, and advanced results access capabilities
            • Course Number – roll up all sections for a particular course

The College, Division, and Department levels can be populated via imports. The School level must be created manually as there are operational implications for each school that is created. Contact Support for details on using schools for decentralized management.

The “college” control variable is configurable in the SETE process and may be selected to be the short or long name for School, College, or Division based on how the hierarchy is defined in Course Evaluations.

The Course Number and Section can be imported in such a way that the number represents a particular course and the sections uniquely identify the physical implementations of the course. If the course data was imported in this way it will be possible to compare SETE scores across sections.
