Overview

The Course Evaluations Response Portal impersonation feature provides an easy way for managers to troubleshoot for faculty and students that may be having issues. The impersonate feature allows the manager to log in as read only for general troubleshooting or it also allows full access to create a report designs or submit surveys.

  • The manager log-in has no effect on the real user unless the manager has rights to make changes
  • Changes can be viewed by the logged in user
  • Impersonations and real user log-ins can occur simultaneously (though not in the same browser)
  • Neither user will be “kicked out”
  • The filter settings (Evaluation Report, Detailed, Completed Surveys, Missed Surveys, so on…) on the list screens will not be seen between the two users
  • Read Only access will remove the ability to change passwords, email address, and contacting the site administrator, as will most options to save changes

Setting up the Impersonate Function

  • Go to the Setup menu
  • Click 'User Authentication'
  • Click 'Response Portal'
  • Select the 'Support SigA/B Token Authentication' (If JICS is already set up, the following sub-steps can be skipped)
    • Click the plus sign next to configuration
    • Add in the ‘Shared Secret' (the shared secret can be anything)
    • Click ‘Save’
  • Go to the Setup menu
  • Click 'CE Manager Users'
  • Select each manager user to set their 'Impersonate Level'
    • Impersonation Access can be set to review (read-only) or to allow interaction on behalf of the user (allow changes). If Allow Changes is selected the manager will be able to submit surveys and update courses as if they were the instructor.
    • Passwords and email addresses cannot be changed (if applicable) regardless of the access level.
  • Click 'Save'
