Looking to have students complete course evaluations on a mobile device? If so, we've got you covered! Be empowered when it comes to understanding and using our mobile features. We’ve created a checklist to help you through setup and help troubleshoot any issues that may arise.

Survey Site Set Up

The Survey Site Set-up Menu Page will now have an area for entering messages for mobile users.  Messages are limited to 85 characters.  Be sure to set-up the Login Message, My Surveys Section Headers, and My Reports Section Header:

Surveys that won’t display nicely on the mobile site

  • Those using HTML tables
  • Large number of questions (while this will work, it is not recommended)
  • Long questions
  • Large question sets (multi-select & radio)
  • Non-Public URLs will not work on mobile devices using 3G or 4G. But, mobile devices can be used if your users have access to your network via WI-FI and the mobile device has WI-FI capability.
  • Jenzabar users can only access Course Evaluations through the JICS portal. The mobile option is not available through Jenzabar at this time.

What if I do not want or cannot make a survey adapt to the mobile site?

We’ve got that covered.  If you have surveys that will not display nicely on the mobile site, you may simply disable the feature when constructing the survey.  After adding a survey, click on the Display Options and set the Survey Rules to Disable:

Monitoring mobile submissions

Want to know which site your participants are using to submit their surveys?  Track it under Detailed SettingsàSelected Participants, the Participant Response Report and Export, and Survey Exports.

Link to  landing page in the Support Center with the mobile chapter

Users will be able to do things like switch between the Mobile and Full sites so it will be important to share this information.

Advise to use links in group e-mail

It’s important to notify and educate your users on the new changes, so we encourage you to use the Group Email feature as a platform to introduce mobile awareness and your approach to reporting issues.

What would happen if I select the mobile site on a regular computer?

If you choose the mobile site on a desktop or laptop, the display will be quite large—and might actually be more suited for those with vision impairments and those using assistive technology.
