The Course Evaluation's mobile offering was strategically developed as a mobile aware web application as opposed to a platform-specific iPhone or Android “App” in order to reach the largest amount of users possible.  Users can now enjoy access to evaluations on-the-go and won’t feel tethered by the need to seek out a stationary computer.

It is important to understand how the feature functions, its advantages, and what to expect when using any given device.  Since this approach optimizes mobile access to our user community, and given the wide variety of phones, computers, operating systems, browsers, and versions on each, the testing for this feature was extensive.

Which devices does Mobile Course Evaluations work with?

The most popular mobile devices and browsers (e.g. iPhone, Android, etc.) underwent considerable testing to ensure quality performance, but it is possible that issues may be discovered when surveys are deployed.

A closer look: iPhone

Typing dialogue or comments on any smart device can sometimes be difficult, and we found that the iPhone automatically increases the font size for comment entry for ease of use.  The font size enlarges upon returning to the survey, but a double- tap on the page will restore the font size to its original condition.

A closer look: Android

Similar to the iPhone, the Android also increases the font size for comment entry, enlarging the font for the duration of the survey.  A double-tap on the page will restore the original font size.

JICS Users

JICS schools can access Course Evaluations on mobile devices using JICS Go.

  • When using the Go platform, users will see a “CE My CoursEval” option on the mobile home page and be taken directly to their waiting evaluations:

Non-Public Course Evaluations URL

Schools with a non-public URL will not be able to use mobile devices unless they can access the school network on their phone via Wi-Fi.

Large Font when using Mobile Mode on a Desktop

Those with disabilities or those who are using assistive tools will be pleased to know that mobile mode on a desktop computer appears larger by design in order to appear normal on a small screen.  Fonts may be easily adjusted at the discrepancy of the user.
