Response set maintenance helps ensure that the legends on reports match the choices shown to survey takers. Course Evaluations has always supported separate legends and abbreviations for choices. This enables the simplification of long choices for reporting needs and provides a meaningful legend for frequency distribution on reports.

  • Automatic update of the legends and abbreviations whenever the choices or the option for choice values (e.g. high-to-low, low-to-high) changes. Previously, this was only done on the first save as it assumed manual changes could have been made.
  • A caution icon appears next to the edit legends icon if the survey choices do not match the legend labels. This may be intended, but the icon helps to draw attention to potential issues.
  • Support for HTML in choices on surveys for both radio and multi-select responses. This provides the ability to add emphasis, but should be kept simple (e.g. bold, italics). The HTML will be stripped to create the legend version of the choice.
  • Rendered HTML now shows in the list. Note that previewing the response set shows the rendered HTML and the legends used for reporting.
  • Rendered HTML now shows in the new survey taking experience as well as traditional Course Evaluations surveys.
  • If HTML images are used in the choices, they are not shown in the list. Instead a message appears informing you to preview the response set to see the images.
  • Show survey stats when editing a response set or choices if the response set has been used on a survey. The warning message now includes the numbers of surveys as well as the total number of questions on those surveys where the response set is used.
  • Choice Edit Page:
    • The column order shows the survey response first. Column headers clarify what each column is for: Survey Choice, Report Legend, Report Abbreviation.
    • Reset Legends updates the legends and abbreviations based on the Survey Choices.
    • Added a warning to only fix misspelled items if the response set has been used on a survey.
